Coaching Information

Updated Wednesday December 12, 2018 by Jay Grant.

If you have some baseball or softball experience we hope you will be interested in being a coach or an assistant coach in our program. Being a coach requires organizational skills, some baseball or softball acumen, and most importantly, a genuine interest in being around, and mentoring, children. To be considered for a coaching position, you need to register as a volunteer on our registration site at easthamptonll.org, which will open in mid-December. You must fill out the volunteer form consenting to a national background check, fill out a coaching application to give us an idea of your qualifications and agree to abide by our Volunteer Code of Conduct. These forms are available as part of the registration process.

These forms are also available at the bottom of this page. You can mail the forms to Easthampton Little League at PO Box 1, Easthampton, MA 01027 or you can scan and email to the following:

Completed volunteer forms may be emailed to League Vice President Jon Davine at jondavine@gmail.com. It is mandatory that you include your social security number on this form. If you are not comfortable including it on the form you may contact Jon and give it to him verbally.

The coaching application and signed Code of Conduct may be emailed to League President Jason Tirrell at jtirrell@williston.com

ALL coaching positions are for one year only. No person is guaranteed to be a coach, or “grandfathered” to coach a specific team. Each year, if a person wishes to manage, then the same selection procedure must be equally applied to all candidates.

All appointments are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

Each candidate will be reviewed fairly with the focus being on the ability of the person nominated to fulfill the responsibilities of the coach. Not everyone is going to know each candidate personally, so the diligence is done by the League President to gather information and speak with those interested. This process is critical to that person becoming a viable nominee.

Typically, the Coach is equal parts parent, teacher and traffic cop, so being a good coach comes down to the ability to coordinate and communicate, while always wearing a smile.

In addition to acting as Coach during the spring season, each active Coach is automatically considered part of the leagues General Membership, whereby each Coach is granted the right to vote at our Annual Meeting, which elects the new Board of Directors. This meeting takes place in October.

Our league wishes to put forth the very best product possible and to benefit our community’s children who choose to play baseball or softball.

To achieve this goal we need volunteers !!

Easthampton Little League could not function without the commitment of its volunteers, please consider joining our great baseball and softball community.
