Spring Training InformationUpdatedWednesday March 27, 2019 byJay Grant.
Dear Parents and Players,
We have adjusted the spring training/evaluation schedule for Saturday morning.
9:00 - Coaching meeting for all who plan to coach
10:00 - Makeup evaluations for any player who missed a session either last Saturday or during the week.
We have decided to do a short pitching and/or catching evaluation for those players interested in pitching or catching. We are doing this to get a better feel for who can pitch and catch, which we hope will enable us to make sure we balance pitching and catching talent when we place players on teams. We hope any player interested in pitching will attend.
Here are the times for those sessions on Saturday morning
10:30 - Pitching or catching session for any 7-9 year old player interested in pitching or catching.
11:15 - Pitching or catching session for any 10-12 year old player interested in pitching or catching.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Dear Players and Parents,
Easthampton Little League will begin Spring Training sessions for baseball and softball players during the week of March 11th at the White Brook Middle School These are important sessions for players to attend to work on fundamentals in preparation for the spring season. Some of these sessions are also used to evaluate players so the league can place them in the proper division and form competitive teams within each division. In divisions where we will sponsor district travel teams the evaluations will be used to assist the league in choosing the players for those teams. It is important for players to know that they will be evaluated during some of these sessions. Our coaches will be running the sessions, but not evaluating the players while they are running a session. We will have a group of evaluators at each session in which players are evaluated.
Players should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time of their first session and need to check in at the registration area near the gym. Players should arrive dressed in athletic clothing and wearing appropriate footwear for the gym. They should also bring their glove. If they have a bat and/or helmet they may bring it for the hitting drills, but the league will also be providing bats, balls and any other necessary equipment for each session.
Please note that we will move all sessions to the Williston Hockey Rink as soon as it is set up for baseball and softball practice. We anticipate that will occur sometime during the week of March 18th. We will notify you of the exact date once it is confirmed.
We will divide the players into groups of about 15 players for each session. Players should only attend sessions for the group they are assigned to. Parents have been sent the groupings by email.
The groups are grouped alphabetically by the players league age, not necessarily their current age.
Group A - Baseball 12&13 year olds
Group B - Baseball 11 year olds
Group C1 - Baseball 10 year olds
Group C2 - Baseball 10 year olds
Group D1 - Baseball 9 year olds
Group D2 - Baseball 9 year olds
Group CP1 - Baseball 6-8 year olds (coach pitch)
Group CP2 - Baseball 6-8 year olds (coach pitch)
Group E - Baseball 7&8 year olds
